A Comparative Analysis of Economics of PMSG and SCSG Floating Offshore Wind Farms

The biggest obstacle to using a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) for floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) is the weight. A superconducting (SCSG) can be an alternative this problem. In paper, first, weight and volume of 10 MW class PMSG SCSG large farm (FOWF) were compared. Reflecting this, economic feasibility 200 FOWF based on semi-submersible platform was compared analyzed. levelized cost energy (LCOE) used compare economics two types FOWF, LCOE type 6 (USD/MWh) more expensive than that FOWF. However, if wire price reduced by 40% current price, secured.
